The two parts of the building – THE TOWER & THE BANK – are united in an interplay of complementary opposites: yesteryear and tomorrow, focus and diversity, city and park, business and culture. At the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER the two parts merge to form a powerful unit that continues to write the history of this site.
The CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER will set the pace for the Frankfurt CBD. As a portal to the international business community and a defining landmark at the intersection of Taunusanlage and Neue Mainzer Strasse, it sets new standards.
THE BANK is a redevelopment of a timeless city building that combines Classicist and contemporary forms. Although directly linked to THE TOWER, THE BANK is a building with a character all of its own, a future meeting point for interaction, culture, and pleasure.

The CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER is a next-generation office high-rise – a stand-out landmark in the international financial metropolis of Frankfurt. With its versatile building concept, it takes the quality of urban working to a new level.
The glazed cleft in the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER makes a striking impression – both on the collective mind of the city and on future users. The vertical visual axis emphasizes the soaring architecture and lends the building an inviting openness.
The former neo-Renaissance building is morphing into an office and commercial building, a place for interaction and home to a museum. The heritage-listed façade of the former bank blends with the new sandstone façade to create a building of timeless elegance.
Along Neue Mainzer Strasse, the striking entrance portal to the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER is over 17 metres high, providing access to THE TOWER and THE BANK and opening up the view into the extraordinary lobby.
Where THE BANK and THE TOWER meet is where the open, approx. 17-metres-high lobby unfolds. This interface of pulsating urban life, international business, and vital nature will in future welcome people from all over the world. The result is a permeable place that creates new connections and sparks a new dynamic between Neue Mainzer Strasse and the Taunusanlage.
The historical rotunda in THE BANK part of the ensemble is one of the few remaining banking halls of any bank building from the historicist era. It is being lovingly restored with close attention to detail to create a modern community space. Evolving into a place where city life and the world of work fuse to extraordinary effect.
The Weltkulturen Museum will be opening a branch within the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER. The ethnological museum, which operates at the interface of ethnology and art, combines the local with the global, and fosters interdisciplinary interaction with international artists, societies, and partners from indigenous culture.
The Taunusanlage stretches from Taunustor to the Alte Oper, combining lawns, hills, centuries-old trees, and sculptures. In future, the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER will grow out of the park, opening it up as a new oasis for the whole of Frankfurt and creating a route directly linking the Taunusanlage and Neue Mainzer Strasse.

BRINGING THE CITY INDOORS

With our design for the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER, we create an urban ensemble that not only offers outstanding office space in a key downtown location but also comprises offerings for the general public so that they, too, become part of the building.“
The architecture of the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER combines timelessness with innovative design solutions. With its unique interplay of form, function, and aesthetics, the building forms an impressive whole with a great eye for the details.
The CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER is the only high-rise in Frankfurt to boast a large-scale photovoltaic system integrated into its glass and metal façade. Flaps on the façade also make it possible to ventilate office spaces directly if so desired.
The listed façade of THE BANK is an impressive testament to Neo-Renaissance architecture. Following its extensive restoration, it will shine anew in 2027 as a defining feature of the CENTRAL BUSINESS TOWER.
The two-story, approx. 11-metre-high historical counter hall with its glazed dome roof is an architectural rarity. After its extensive restoration it will form a public centrepiece, enriching the CBD of tomorrow.
